Swiss Open GP Gold 2016

  • Prannoy, an Indian shuttler, clinched his 2nd Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament title in the men’s singles category by defeating Marc Zwiebler of Germany in the the final of Swiss Open at Basel, Switzerland on March 20, 2016.
  • Prannoy had already won the Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold in 2014.
  • He Bingjiao from China won the Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament title in the women’s singles category by defeating Wang Yihan from China.
  • The pair of Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen from Denmark won the Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament title in the men’s doubles category by defeating Chinese Taipei pair of Lee Sheng-mti and Tsai Chia-hsin.
  • Japanese pair of Shizuka Matsuo and Mami Naito won the Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament title in the women’s doubles category by defeating Japanese pair of Naoko Fukuman and Kurumi Yonao.
  • Chinese pair-of Wang Yilu and Chen Qingchen won the Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament title in the mixed doubles category by defeating Thailand pair of Bodin Issara and Savitree Amitrapai.

All England Championships 2016

  • Lin Dan earned his sixth All England badminton title by defeating his Chinese teammate Tian Houwei in the final match played at Birmingham, England on March 13, 2016 in the men’s singles category.
  • Nozomi Okuhara from Japan won the All England badminton title in the women’s single category by defeating the Chinese player Wang Shixian.
  • Russian pair Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov won the All England badminton title in the men’s doubles category by defeating the Japanese pair Hiroyuki Endo and Kenichi Hayakawa.
  • Japanese pair Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka ’ Takahashi won the All England badminton title in the women’s doubles category by defeating the Chinese pair Tang Yuanting and Yu Yang.
  • Indonesian pair Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto won the All England badminton title in the mixed doubles category by defeating Denmark pair Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen.
