Cesare Maldini

  • Former AC Milan defender and Italy coach Cesare Maldini has died on April 3, 2016 at the age of 84. He won four Serie A titles during his time with Milan and was skipper of the side in 1963, when the Rossoneri became the first Italian team to win the European Cup.
  • He put in 412 appearances for AC Milan and moved into coaching when his playing career ended, managing the North Italian club from 1972-74. He was assistant coach to Enzo Bearzot for Italy’s 1982 World Cup triumph in Spain and then led the Azzurri to the -quarter-finals in France 16 years later, where they were beaten by the hosts on penalties.

Zaheer Khan

  • Delhi Daredevils announced on March 28, 2016 that Zaheer Khan has been appointed captain of the franchise for the for the . upcoming 9th edition of Indian Premier League 2016 season.
  • India’s best left-arm pace bowler ever, Zaheer, has been a leader for a very long time. He will be playing for Delhi Daredevils for the 2nd successive season in 2016.
  • Zaheer had earlier this season, retired from international cricket, having played 92 Tests with 311 wickets, whereas he scalped 282 ODI wickets in 200 matches. He also played 17 T20 Internationals for India.

Shane Watson

  • Prominent Australian allrountler Shane Watson announced his retirement from international cricket on March 24, 2016 at the end of the World T20. He retired from Test cricket in 2015 and has not featured in a one-day international (ODI) since September, 2015.
  • But, he will continue to play domestic Twenty20 leagues, including the Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his ODI debut against South Africa in 2002. But he earned his Test cap three years later in 2005. He served Australia for 14 years.
  • Watson was part of the 2007 and 2015 World Cup-winning squads. He was chosen Australia’s finest cricketer in 2010 and 2011 and adjudged the 2012 World T20 Player-of-the-tournament. He captained his country on the forgettable 2013 tour of India but fought back to be in the Australian side which routed England in 2013-14 Ashes series.
