Khajuraho Dance Festival Held at Chhatarpur
- India’s one of the celebrated cultural events, the 42nd j annual Khajuraho Dance Festival commenced in Chhaitarpur district on February 20, 2016, the festival showcased classical dances, including Kathak. ‘ Bharatnaiyam, Odissi andKuchipudi depicting the ancient tales like Mahishasur Mardlni and Krishna Rasa.
- The festival was organised by Department of Culture, Madhya Pradesh. It held against the backdrop of iconic Khajuraho temples, built by Chandela dynasty between 950 and 1050 AD, that is worldwide known for erotic sculptures.
- The performances held in an open-air auditorium by renowned artists in front of the Chitragupta Temple dedicated to ‘Surya’ (the Sun God) and the Visbwanatha Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, in the western group of j temples at Khajuraho.
Vibrant North-East 2016 Summit in Guwahati
- The Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal inaugurated the Vibrant North-East 2016 Summit and Exhibition in Guwahati on ; February 18, 2016. It is a three-day long Vibrant North-East event concluded on February 20, 2016.
- It was the second edition of the event. It is jointly organised by the Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD) and ASSOCHAM in association with Union Ministry for Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER) and Union Food Processing Ministry.
- Rural banking, Make in North-East and Horticulture and food processing, etc. were the key areas of Vibrant North-East. Ministry of food processing industries is already pursuing various development-related schemes such as establishing three mega food parks, five cold chain projects, eight abattoirs and development of six food-testing laboratories.
Haryana and South Korean State Agreed to Collaborate on Technology
- As South Korean State Chungcheongbuk is looking to have a dose relationship with Haryana in the field of technology, Haryana and Chungcheongbuk agreed to enter into a sister-statehood relationship for development on February 16, 2016.
- In this regard, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lai Khattar accepted the proposal for such a relationship made by a visiting delegation from Chungcheongbuk government. Khattar also invited South Korean investors to the Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit 2016 scheduled to be organised in Gurgaon on March 7-8, 2016.
- South Korean companies like Samsung, LG and Hyundai j are already present in India, But other companies like Kakodcar, Casco, I.S cables and SD Bio Sensor are present in Haryana.
Jharkhand got Its First Mega Food Park
- The Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal, inaugurated the first Mega Food Park in Jharkhand on February 15, 2016 at’Village Getalsud, District Ranchi in order to give an impetus to the growth of the Food Processing Sector in Jharkhand.
- Mega Food Park has been set-up with the project cost of Rs 114.73 crore in an area of 51.50 acres. The park will have facilities of Multi Chamber Cold Storage, Dry Warehouse, Vegetable Dehydration Line, modem Quality Controlfr Testing Laboratory and other processing facilities for fruits & vegetables.
- This Mega Food Park project will create a modem infrastructure for arresting post-harvest losses of horticultural and non-hortkultural produce and provide impetus to the growth of food processing sector in Jharkhand.
